Short description
“Fuente de Hierro”, also known as the “Iron Well” is how this region has been called for many centuries. The Moors had once used it to rest and replenish their water supply on their march from the coast to Granada. About 200 m east of the Finca, there still stands a well first unburied in 1986.
In order to preserve the history of this area and its beautiful old name, we decided to name the new finca „Fruente de Hierro“. Before we had drilled and established our own water supply - a task that required much work to a constantly failing motor pump-- we learned from the Spanish neighbors how to fetch water from the well and ended up relying on it as our main water supply for a time.
Meantime, we managed to get connected to the power grid as well as to the public water supply system. Today, we only use the system as an additional reserve, as the house is now supplied by a private 80 m deep well, tapping into 3 water veins that converge underneath our land - a phenomenon unique to „Fuente de Hierro“. Fuente de Hierro lies just above Finca Marico and is separated by a public road.
You are the only guests with a private pool at your disposal.
During your stay at Finca Fuente de Hierro, you have at your disposal around 150 square meters of living space on the ground floor (comfortably housing 5-7 people) and 135 square meters upstairs (also around 5-8 people).
The ground and first floor are both completely furnished and both have separate entrances. You are the only guests.
Ground floor description: fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, hall, guest toilet, a bedroom with two beds and en-suite bathroom and a large bedroom with three beds and a bath tub.
Top floor description: fully equipped kitchen with dining area, large living room, small bedroom with one bed, two bedrooms with two beds each with separate en-suite bathroom.
Depending on the position of the sun, you can choose between an eastern, southern, western, barbecue-, bistro- or rooftop terrace.
You can enter the ground floor through the main entrance directly from the large parking lot leading into the dining room or via the south terrace through the living room. The upper floor can be accessed by following the Camino Romantico from the parking lot (leading upwards) and through the kitchen.
On the eastern side of the finca lies a vineyard, with the northern face framed with cypress, eucalyptus and pine trees.
The southern-facing view onto the Mediterranean. On clear days you can even see out to the distant Er-Rif-Mountains of Morocco, about 130 km away - a truly breathtaking experience.
The plants in the yard are automatically watered through a drip irrigation system. Our caretaker regularly waters the potted plants and keeps your private pool in perfect condition.
Automatic, weather-controlled floor heating, air-conditioning.
